Do you remember kaleidoscopes?
Those psychedelic spyglasses open to an endless highway of ephemeral unicity.
Kiwii’s hand-cut kaleidoscopes work in a similar fashion. By essence, invitations to let your eye wander, and get lost in the multitude.
French-born, part-time Russian, Kiwii now lives in her latest city of adoption, Amsterdam. City-rat from day one, dancer through innate attraction. Complex interactions between individuality and multiplicity, as well as perpetual movement, are the two central themes tackled by Kiwii’s work.
One after the other, her kaleidoscopes unroll a fascinating urban poem. They disclose its visual effervescence, and celebrate the poetry to be found in its ever-shifting threads of life.
